A different perspective on the forest

Bachledka gradually lifts you above the level from which you normally see woodland. Instead of just trunks and roots, you can study branches, treetops and the landscape opening beyond. The timber walkway passes through the Spišská Magura environment, combining a stroll with observing nature. You need not climb a Tatra summit for a broad panorama, but avoid reducing the visit to a quick dash up the tower. The walk among the trees gives the place its character. Stop to compare near and distant details, letting children discover them at their own pace.

The tower and the Belianske Tatras

The operator gives the viewing tower’s height as 32 metres. Its gently rising structure progressively reveals the Belianske Tatras, Pieniny and Zamagurie region. In clear air, compare softer wooded ridges with the rocky mountains beyond. Binoculars or a quick look at a regional map beforehand can help. Views depend on visibility: cloud may hide the mountains even when conditions seem fine at the car park. If Tatra photography is your main aim, choose the forecast carefully. In poorer visibility, the forest walk and educational stops become more important than distant summits.

Learning along the walkway

Information boards introduce the forest, its wildlife and conservation. They invite questions: why do trees reach different heights, what changes after strong winds, and where might animals shelter? You need not read them all like a textbook. Choose one subject, look around and find an example. Older children can compare explanations with observations, while younger ones search for colours and shapes. The structure then becomes a way into the real landscape. Wildlife sightings are not part of a programme that can be guaranteed.

The gondola and walkway are separate elements

Reaching the upper area matters for an easier family visit. Tickets come in different combinations, including walkway and lift travel. Check the exact inclusions and starting valley; nearby lifts are not automatically interchangeable. The operator describes a step-free visit using the correct parking, gondola and walkway, but confirm particular wheelchair requirements in advance. Walking uphill is a separate choice needing time and a surface assessment. Saving on lift travel is no reason to impose an unexpectedly long climb on a child or someone with reduced mobility.

The Kingdom of the Forest: more time for play

The Kingdom of the Forest is a separate outdoor family attraction. Its timber structures and active play may matter as much to children as the scenic walkway does to adults. Compare combined tickets with single-attraction options and check seasonal availability. Equipment suits different ages, so follow the rules on arrival. Leave time for children to enjoy a few favourites rather than rushing onwards. Spare clothes and a meal break help on longer visits. Parents remain responsible for supervision, even in a large staffed attraction.

Weather and maintenance affect your date

Bachledka is mostly outdoors. Wind, thunderstorms, snow and ice can change comfort and access, while the gondola has its own operating requirements. Check the latest resort report, last admission and final descent before leaving Białka. Look for scheduled maintenance closures rather than assuming year-round operation. Bring a windproof layer even if it is warm below. Admission does not guarantee clear views. If the weather undermines your main reason for visiting, postponing may be better than buying extras simply to fill the time.

A day from Silverton with one worthwhile addition

Confirm tickets and conditions before setting off. A basic visit includes driving, travelling up, the walkway and tower, and a rest. Families adding the Kingdom of the Forest should leave much of the afternoon for it. After a shorter visit, a Ždiar stop can add traditional timber houses beneath the Belianske Tatras. There is no need to add a cave and a high-mountain cable car too. Return to Silverton for a relaxed evening, with a different theme — perhaps baths or culture — the next day.

A suggested day plan

  1. Check updates, choose the right ticket and navigate to the correct resort access point.
  2. After travelling up, enjoy the walkway, information stops and tower.
  3. Add the Kingdom of the Forest or a short Ždiar stop according to time and weather.

Once you arrive

Park in a permitted place when you arrive. Plan the walk to the entrance, your stroll or your visit using the attraction guide. Allow for this separately from the drive.

Allow time for the return journey

Allow for the drive both ways, the whole visit or walking route, a meal and some spare time. Check admission and transport times, and decide when you will return to Silverton before setting off.

This trip takes you outside Poland. Bring your travel documents and check the weather, road conditions and the operator’s latest updates. Check journey times in your navigation app on the day.

The button opens current driving directions. We do not give an unverified journey time. Check directions, conditions and attraction availability before setting off. Driving time does not include walking or the visit itself.

Before you set off

Does a walkway ticket always include the gondola?

No. Different combinations are sold, so check the full ticket name, direction of travel and extras. Families should compare options including the Kingdom of the Forest. The cheapest ticket may not match a plan involving a comfortable return gondola journey.

Check current information: Bachledka — tickets and offers

Can we bring a pushchair?

The operator describes a step-free option using a suitable car park, gondola and treetop walkway. Confirm the correct starting point and current gondola operation before travelling. This does not make every nearby walking approach suitable. Ask the resort directly about particular dimensions or assistance requirements.

Is the Kingdom of the Forest the same in winter and summer?

Additional attractions have their own seasons and rules. Check the current programme and ticket inclusions before buying. Individual activities can depend on conditions even during the operating season. If this is the children’s main reason for coming, confirm it before leaving Silverton rather than promising everything seen in another season’s photographs.
